Life can be a two-way street. Where you are now you can either go forward or go backward. There is a possible third option and that is you might get stuck between the two and seemingly go nowhere. One of the ways you can observe whether you are stepping backward or moving forward can be reflected through your giving.
If you are in the habit of only giving and not receiving it is hard to move forward. Likewise, if you are in the habit of only receiving, most likely you will continue to move backward. Let me put it this way. Let’s say someone offers to give you something and your response is, “Oh no, I can’t accept that, it’s too much.” You have refused to accept the good that was in the offer. Not only did you block the Universe from opening a place within you to be a receiver, but you blocked the giver from experiencing the joy of giving. It’s not so much about the offer as it is about stopping the flow of an abundant life.
On the other hand, if you are only giving to get something back you will never have the experience of what it is like being a microcosm of the macrocosm. In other words, God as you. The giving will be empty; therefore, you will feel empty. Giving to get back is not giving, it’s negotiation.
If you are in the act of giving it is a good idea to first stop and check in to see if you are wanting something back or giving out of habit or giving out of obligation or guilt. Clear any or all of that and tap into the love that is everywhere present and then give. Your love counts just as much as anyone else’s.
